At least one major election polling effort that I'm quite familiar with asks a series of questions leading up to the specific vote choice question--things similar to: did you vote in the last election? Who did you vote for in the last election (and then they provide the choices)? Generally speaking, do you think of yourself as a Republican, Democrat, or what? Because Dr. Paul is attracting support from Independents/Libertarians and Democrats--as well as some (but perhaps not as many yet) Republicans, if supporters answer Independent/Libertarian, they likely won't even get to the Republican choices--especially in the closed primary states. The key then, is to be thinking when the pollster calls, and tell them "Republican" or "lean Republican" so that you get Dr. Paul as a choice.
